The Department of Energy and Climate Change, the Energy Saving Trust and Citizens Advice have issued this joint advice:

As the temperature begins to drop, it’s important that we are aware of the best ways to stay warm this winter. By following these simple steps you can stay comfortable and save money on your energy bills:

• If you need personalised help on how to keep warm for less this winter, speak to an advisor at the Energy Saving Advice Service on 0300 123 1234 / Home Energy Scotland 0808 808 2282 or visit www.energysavingtrust.org.uk

• There is a new helpful source of information on what to do in case of disruptions this winter – including local numbers to call if you experience a power cut and what to do if there’s flooding. Visit www.gov.uk/government/news/winter-weather-uk-government-response

• For advice on managing your energy bills contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau, call the Citizens Advice consumer service on 03454 04 05 06 / 03454 04 05 05 for Welsh language speakers or visit www.adviceguide.org.uk
